Week of January 28- February 1, 2013

We will be having our Valentine's Day party on February 14 from 10:30-11:25.  Please let me know if you are able to help that day and have an idea of a game, craft or treat to bring.  If you would like to help but need an idea, I have plenty!  Also, we will be making bags in class to bring home valentines so you don't need to bring a box from home.  I will send home a class list this week.  If you choose to send valentines, please make sure you bring a valentine for everyone.  I will also be sending home the volunteer calendar for February this week.

Week of January 22-25, 2013

Thank you to all for bringing your students to the kindergarten assessments.  Everyone showed great improvements!  Thank you for all your work at home!

There is no school on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr Day.  We will be having library on Tuesday so send library books back along with homework and reading books.

Keep up all the good work with reading and homework!

Week of January 7-11, 2013

Today I sent home a letter with your child's appointment time for next week.  Please send the bottom portion of the note back as soon as possible letting me know if you are able to attend this appointment.  There will be no regular class for kindergarteners on January 15, 16,  and 17.

Please remember to keep sending back homework, reading folders, and reading books every Monday.  I will send home reminder notes for those who still have reading books out.

Call for volunteers!
I have several students moving whose parents have been weekly helpers.  If anyone else can help out for an hour once a month I would greatly appreciate it!  It's a lot of fun and it really helps me and the students.  Thanks!

Week of December 7-19, 2012

We will be having a Polar Express Pajama Party on Wednesday December 19 in kindergarten.  The students can wear their pajamas and bring a pillow or blanket to sit on.  We will be watching the Polar Express and having hot chocolate!

January 15-17 will be the winter kindergarten benchmark testing.  There will be no school for kindergarten students and each child will have a 15 minutes appointment with me to complete the testing.

Please return the reading books this week.  I will keep them over the break and send home new ones in January.  The only homework over the break will be to complete three graphic organizers for three different books.  These will be sent home on Monday.  Enjoy the break!

Week of December 3-7, 2012

If you would like to order books for the holidays, I sent out an email with the link to order online.  Please have the orders in by the end of the day Friday December 7 so the books will be here before the break.

Please remember to return the reading books.  I will be sending home reading books this week and next week, but not over the break.  I don't want them to get packed up and put away with Christmas stuff!

Thanks for all you do for your students and the class!

Week of November 26-30, 2012

Remember to keep track of your reading books over the break and return them and the reading folder on Monday.  Also, we are having a lot of students forget their library books on Monday.  That is sad because then they don't get to check out new books that week.  So please remember to keep your child's library books in their backpacks so you don't have to remember to send them to school on Monday.  Thanks!

Week of November 19-23, 2012

So sorry I haven't posted for a few weeks.  I will be on the ball from now on!  Thank you so much for coming to parent teacher conferences last week and celebrating your child's accomplishments and discussing ways to improve.  When we work as a team, that's when we can see the most progress!

Most of the students have returned their first set of take home readers.  Please make sure they are getting returned every week to get new books to read.  This is an exciting time in kindergarten when reading really takes off!

There will be no homework for this week!  Happy Thanksgiving!  I will send home new take home readers with those who return their book bags.  Have a great break!
